We are a private billing practice.
Fees for consultation with Our Specialist Dermatologists are listed below:
Initial Specialist Consultation: $165-225 (Medicare rebate $73.85)
Subsequent Specialist Consultation: $95-125 (Medicare rebate $37.15)
A valid referral is required to receive your Medicare rebate and also for our specialists to communicate findings with your referring doctor. You can obtain a referral from your general practitioner which is valid for 1 year from initial consultation. A referral from another specialist is valid for 3 months from initial consultation. It is your responsibility to ensure your referral is valid. If your referral is expired you will be asked to obtain a new referral as required by Medicare prior to your next appointment.
Overseas visitors/Non-residents (ie those without Medicare) also require a referral and may claim their rebate from their international private health or travel insurance.
Costs for surgery can only be determined after initial consultation, with a cost estimate provided prior to booking your procedure. As a general guide, a dermatologist out-of-pocket expense will be incurred for minor diagnostic procedures ($50-125) and surgical procedures ($250-350). Procedures performed in the day procedure unit/day hospital however, may be fully covered by your private health insurance or with a minimal gap payment required, depending on your insurer and level of cover. Bronze, Silver and Gold private health insurance products provide cover appropriate for dermatology day procedures. Excesses or Co-payments may apply depending on your chosen health insurance product.
Please note that medical advice can not be given outside of consultation (ie via email or phone call). Should you be an existing patient requiring a prescription, this will generally be provided without consultation if you have been seen in the past 3 months and this is deemed appropriate by your specialist; an outside of consultation prescription fee will generally apply ($15).
